A LEAP OF FAITH

I took a leap of faith, and relying heavily on my faith, decided to become a professional triathlete. I was jumping into the sport relatively late compared to the top competitors of the day, and had to start as an age-group athlete with zero experience.

With a couple races out of the way, an accident left me with over 50 fractures in my left foot and ankle. That’s basically about 2 fractures per bone. It was destroyed, but my conviction and commitment was not.

Eight months later I qualified for Kona, the Ironman World Championship, the pinnacle of races for triathletes. And shortly after that I turned pro.

Now, in addition to training and racing, I had to navigate a very public life as a very private person. I had to balance a physically and emotionally demanding life centered around my training, eating and sleeping schedules, with that of my wife, and soon our young children.

As my career evolved, I’d constantly circle back to my fundamental values for guidance. My self-reflection and prayer usually had me asking myself how I could serve. The big question being - How could I share my experiences and valuable lessons from others in a way that would dive beneath the surface?

DIVING further

I found great coaches and mentors. I did the work. I pushed myself, put on masks, had to pull them off, and really dug deep in so many aspects of my life.

During all of this, I found myself always calling back to these same fundamental pillars in my life. For me, it was always about faith, health, family, purpose, and balance. And still is…

  • This journey in life has been one filled with experiences, successes, failures, and struggles - and through it all - I have learned to value every step of the way and focus on Jesus being by my side.

  • Family is the most important thing outside of my faith and it requires intentionality. I am constantly growing and learning in this area as it is always changing and evolving. The only question I can ask myself every day is - How am I showing up with my Family today?

  • Being a professional athlete my job was to be healthy and be one of the fitness people in the World. When it is your job putting everything into that was the job so I did that well. Now finding balance in being as healthy as you can be to be active, enjoy life, and have the energy and excitement to show up in life starts with being healthy and fit.

  • Sometimes in life, you have things that you have to look at and you need to correct or you need to withdraw or just need to reevaluate. I live in a place of constant renewal and desire to learn and grow. Growing is something we tend to slow down with and my belief is we need to dive into learning and growing more now than ever. Life is still in the early stages and there is so much to give and serve.

Living deep

Which brings us to the right now. I know I don’t have all the answers, but I do bring questions that I’ll engage with as I open up honest dialogues with those I work with. I want to help you to push yourself physically and renew your commitments to the most important relationships in your life.

My specialty is in developing daily practices to increase knowledge, skills, and performance - and I hope I can help guide others to have freedom in their lives and stretch and step into their own passions and callings. Together - let’s create habits that allow us to live with purpose and passion everyday and build relationships where we can give our best selves to those that matter most.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Success does not just come from putting in the physical hard work, its about having a team around you that can help guide you in each area and the overlooked and under utilized mental aspect to seeing your success before you even enter the game.
